Smt. Ranjani and Smt. Gayatri [Vocal & Violin Artists]
Ranjani and Gayatri have carved a unique niche for themselves as artistes accomplished in both violin and vocal music.
The sisters started their career as a violin duo, and established themselves as top class violinists of international repute. They started giving vocal concerts since 1997 and within barely three years won high praise from music lovers all over the globe. Today they are among the leading musicians in the carnatic music field.
Ranjani and Gayatri received their violin training from the late Sangeeta Bhooshanam Sri. T.S.Krishnaswami. They had their initial vocal training from their mother Smt. Meenakshi Balasubramanian, from whom they continue to learn. They are under the tutelege of Padma Bhushan Sangeeta Kala Acharya Sri.P.S.Narayanaswamy since 1994.
The sisters have received several awards and prizes; recent awards include the the title of “Isai Peroli” from the Kartik Fine Arts, Chennai, the Kalki Award from the Kalki Krishnamurthi Memorial Trust and the National Eminence Award from the Shanmukhananda Sabha, Mumbai. They have given performances all over India and abroad, in countries including the U.S.A, Canada, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia and the Middle East. They are A-Graded musicians of the All India Radio and Doordarshan, both in vocal and vocal, and have to their credit several album releases.
